Training

CAPA offers carefully structured programs for students aged 8 years and above from the beginner level through to the most advanced. Please click on the links below to learn more about each program.

A three year, full time program for post matric (high school) students. Gaining a Diploma in Professional Performance, students prepare for a professional dance career and entry into local and international dance companies and productions. Entry is via audition and both South African and international students of a proficient standard are welcome to apply. Students are generally aged between 18 and 23 years.

An advanced ballet training program for students aged 9 years and above. Entry is by audition and focuses on technique and precision using the Russian Vaganova method, the most widely used and recognised classical ballet technique around the world. Classes take place on weekday afternoons from 3:00pm and include classical ballet, repertoire, pointe work (females) and pas de deux (partner work for males and females) for older students. Students are also given increased performance opportunities and have the possibility of joining CAPA’s youth dance company: CDCII.

An advanced Saturday morning training program for students aged 12 years and above. Entry is via audition and students from dance schools across the Cape Peninsula are welcomed as well CAPA’s Pro-Track and Part Time School program students. Training takes place on Saturdays to cater for students travelling long distances and has been developed as a training ground to feed into CAPA’s youth dance company: CDCII. Students are given increased performance opportunities and work with professional choreographers from South Africa and abroad. Classes include classical ballet, pointe work, contemporary dance, partnering and body conditioning.
